Singapore 2007

In 2004 I was invited to Singapore by the Singapore Kennel Club to conduct Agility Seminars. I spent an enjoyable week with some great people and their dogs.

In 2007 I was invited back to Singapore by Dexter and Debra Sim, and their PUPS dog training club. I conducted 3 training seminars, and judged an unsanctioned Agility, Jumping and Games trial.

The standard of the dogs and handlers has raised significantly since 2004, with many fast and responsive dogs, and handlers keener than ever before. The handlers are also more aware of the role they have in getting their dog around the course successfully. Gone are the days of letting the dog do the hard work.

Singapore's agility community is still small, but with time and increased numbers, I believe they can and will be a successful group of competitors. The motivation is certainly there.

My sincere thanks to Dexter and Debra Sim for making the 2007 visit possible, and for being the most hospitable hosts one could ask for! I ate like a King, visited many interesting local attractions, and enjoyed the company of some of their wonderful friends.
