The Amazing Race! |
Our journey home from the 2008 Agility and Jumping National Titles was made very entertaining, after an innocent text message was taken far too seriously...
It all started when I sent a text message to Wendy and Shane, who were also on their way home from the Nationals saying -
"Where are you? Do you like the 'amazing race'?"
When Wendy replied that they were an hour or so behind us, I responded with "Team Lukes you are team number one!", thinking it would end there. However, when Wendy and Shane sent back a message saying "challenge 1 - a photo with a horse at Horsham", Luke and I realised this had become a competition...
After an unsuccessful drive around Horsham's trotting track, we took the chance that Wendy and Shane would accept the following as having satisfied the challenge - |
Thankfully, they did and the game could continue...
It was then our turn to set them a challenge.
"A photo with the dogs in front of the Giant Koala."
We soon received the evidence.
We knew it then - they were serious :-)

Our next challenge was to find a company called KZs Karz in Border Town. We had no idea what this was, but were sure the lady in the local bakery would know...no such luck. She directed us to the Tourist Information Centre, where the staff made a phone call to confirm the address, and provided us with a map to find what we now knew was a crash repairer! Too easy! |
We then decided to leave a clue for Wendy and Shane to find in Border Town. We clipped a red Nationals badge to the gas cylinders behind the Country Loaf Bakery. We sent a cryptic clue, that turned out to be far too easy, as soon we received the evidence of a successful mission...
They sure were tough competitors...

Our final challenge was to find a truck weighing station...
For Wendy and Shane's final challenge, we sent them another cryptic clue. This time there was an answer that they had to tell us...
"Heaven or hell...what road are you going to take? Where am I? One guess, to make it a draw..."
We thought we had them stumped, but a little later -
"In Heaven on Pope road...".
It was a draw, so we decided to let Wendy pick up her 'prize' - Shae, her new Calanais puppy - Calanais In The Stars.
