Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy 2009!

A very busy finish to the year, with a great trip to Honolulu and a cruise throughout the Hawaiian Islands aboard the Pride of America!

New Years Eve this year will be celebrated in Australia's beautiful red centre - Ularu (Ayers Rock!), with friends.

Thanks again to the dogs' regular adopted families - Jason and Kelly, Luke, and Alexa!

Our new years resolution is to keep this site regularly updated!

Cheers!

More SACA Top Agility Dog of the Year Awards!

A further surprise with news that Lara also won the Top Masters Agility Dog Award for 2008!

SACA Top Agility Dog of the Year Awards!

A pleasant surprise in the mail during the week - a letter informing me that Tully has won the 2008 Top Masters Jumping Title Award, and that Mirri has won the 2008 Top Novice Agility Dog Title Award.

The dogs and I will attend an awards night in the next few weeks.

A great way to finish the year!

So much to tell...

A busy end to year means this news reel has been neglected of late. Our apologies!

Success for the calanais team has continued though, with some great results.

Ellie has well and truly returned to form after her litter, with some more lovely runs, wins and her AD title.

Tully and Fraser gained the final qualification required for their SPDX title.

Lara and her new partner Jillaru are also racing through the SPDX class with another qualification.

Sian is closing in on all her Masters titles in games, with just a few passes to go.

Toby has been running beautifully lately with a win in Excellent Gamblers and a second in Open agility.

Jet made some appearances in the show ring with three Best of Breeds. He is now half way to his title, and we are excited about getting him out more to finish it soon!

A few updates!

A new job for me and all sorts of other things have ensured that we have been very busy of late! However, I have finally added a few new pages. One for our special girl Spice, who has now made her way to Singapore, and another page for Samantha the puppy we have retained. We hope to post some results soon, when Sammi makes her show ring debut!

Meanwhile, Gamble has had a successful start to his campaign in QLD with a Baby Puppy of Breed win at his first show against some nice babies. Congratulations also to Tully's daughter Mia - Classicyds Cool To Be Mi - on her recent Junior in Group award. Mia also won Champion Puppy in Show at the BCCQ Specialty Show under breed specialist Lauren Somers. Well done to Nadia and David on these great results!

2008 Agility and Jumping Nationals - Victoria ( 29-31/08/08)!

This past weekend was the 2008 Nationals. This year they were held in Victoria, so Luke Johanson and I, along with 5 dogs made the journey to Cranbourne. It was a very busy three days of competition, with the Sunday afternoon comprising the national finals. Coincidentally, the Sunday afternoon also produced the worst weather of the weekend, with heavy rain, thunder and even hail! A few tents/gazebos (ours included) were blown down and damaged, but other than this everyone seemed to escape unharmed!!!

The dogs accounted for themselves very well, with Sian, Tully, Miranda and Gary and Lee-Anne's Toby all qualifying for their respective National finals. This year the top seven dogs from each heat went through to the finals. This was not easy - given the large size of the classes at this year's event.

Sian ran beautifully all weekend, and as always seemed to display a desire to win, matched only by her desire NOT to 'stay' at the start line!!! Amazing, how the nationals seems to bring out both the best and worst in her!!

Regardless, she had some great results...

WINNER of the Masters Jumping Heat 1 from an entry of 176 dogs!

WINNER of the Master Agility Heat 3 from an entry of 164 dogs! Amazingly, Sian won this ring by over 5 seconds!!!

Fourth place qualifier in Open Agility Heat 2 from an entry of 149!

Sian also qualified in sixth place in Heat 3 of the Masters Jumping from an entry of 189!

In the finals, Sian finished up fourth in the Masters Jumping, with a knocked bar in the other two classes ending our chances.

Tully ran well on the weekend also, despite me discovering a few areas that need work!

He was the sixth ranked qualifier in the Open Jumping Heat 2, from an entry of 175!

In his final, Tully unfortunately took an out of order obstacle on a very tough open course. The winner of the final was in fact the only dog NOT disqualified!!

Miranda was a star on the weekend. From such limited experience in the trial ring, I wasn't sure what to expect from her, but she ran really well - the best she has run to date.

She was competing in a very tough novice class at this year's event.

Second place in Novice Agility Heat 2 from an entry of 106!

Second place in Novice Jumping Heat 2 from an entry of 70.

Fourth place in Novice Agility Heat 3 from an entry of 101.

Unfortunately, no luck for Mirri in the finals, with a knocked bar in the Agility final ending our chances, and a run past in the Jumping, but some great signs of good things to come!

Toby was brilliant all weekend. Gary and Lee-Anne have put so much work in to Toby, and this was evident by the great results achieved. We are very proud of 'Scrubs'!

EXCELLENT SNOOKER NATIONAL CHAMPION!

WINNER Excellent Agility Heat 2 from an entry of 91!

WINNER Excellent Agility Heat 3 from an entry of 86!

Fifth placed qualifier in Excellent Jumping Heat 3 from an entry of 109!

In the finals Toby again ran beautifully finishing up -

RUNNER UP EXCELLENT AGILITY NATIONAL CHAMPION!

THIRD PLACE EXCELLENT JUMPING!

All in all, a great weekend for the Calanais dogs!

This year also saw the inaugural 'Amazing Race'...:-) Click HERE for the story!

A BIG thanks to Luke Johanson, Chris, and Jason & Kelly Schultz for all their help over the weekend. I don't think I could have made it to each of my rings without their help preparing dogs and numbers for me! Much appreciated!

Home sweet home (16/08/08)!

We say goodbye to our latest babies, as they join their new families.

Calanais What Happens In Vegas - Gamble - will be hitting the show ring soon, as will one of his yet-to-be-named sisters! Check him out through the 'Our Dogs' page!

On the same day, Ellie headed off to an Obedience trial with Alexa. Obviously happy to be free of her maternal obligations, she passed the CDX class with a score of 188, gaining her first qualification! Not bad considering she has had only one training session in about three months!!!

What a day!

Penny's first show! (25/05/08)

Today was Penny (Tanjirra Almost Famous), our Ragdoll kitten's first show!

She behaved as though she had done it all a dozen times before - allowing the judge to examine her and relaxing happily in her cage for what was a long day.

With 13 Ragdoll/Birman kittens entered, we were not overly confident. However, we were thrilled when Penny was awarded Reserve Ragdoll/Birman kitten and 5th Best Kitten in Group 1. She was then awarded Best Coat Colour and Texture of all the Group 1 kittens! Being one of the youngest in the group made it even more exciting.

Puppies are on the horizon! (22/05/08)

We can now confirm that Ellie is in whelp!

Sire of this litter is Lynn and Bill Harrison's youngster Liam - Tullacrest Ice Man (A.I.) - Ch. Tullacrest Thiefa Hearts x Ch. Tullacrest Insatiable.

More success for the extended family! (18/05/08)

A great weekend of Agility and Jumping this weekend, with the RK & OC holding their inaugural trials. We really enjoyed the weekend.
